“We are artisans committed to creating beauty in our world through our medium of fine jewelry.” – Philip Voetsch

Our world is important to us!
April 22 is Earth Day , a day for us to celebrate and share our focus of creating beautiful jewelry , while working with diamonds, gemstones, and metals that will do no harm to planet earth and its inhabitants. The beauty of nature is reflected in many of our designs, and we take great care to make this world a better place in our business practices as artists.
Philip Voetsch and the staff of Jewelry By Design have formed close relationships with the vendors who supply us the natural resources used to create our jewelry pieces. We have sought vendors who reflect our core philosophy of creating beauty while doing our best for the environment by using recycled metals, gemstones from socially responsible mines, lab created gemstones that require no mining, as well as diamonds that are procured from sources that will not tolerate conflict diamonds or human suffering due to mining or diamond trade.
Of Course We Buy Gold, We’re Goldsmiths
…and we recycle, too!
The use of recycled metal (silver, gold, palladium, and platinum) is a priority. We use less than a handful of sources who have a proven track record of formal sustainability programs and are also committed to being on the cutting edge of social and environmental responsibility practices.
We want our jewelry to reflect beauty, not suffering, which is why we are committed to maintaining diamond suppliers who adhere to the Kimberley Process.
“The Kimberley Process started when Southern African diamond-producing states met in Kimberley, South Africa, in May 2000, to discuss ways to stop the trade in ‘conflict diamonds’ and ensure that diamond purchases were not financing violence by rebel movements and their allies seeking to undermine legitimate governments.”
Also, synthetic diamonds from reliable sources have recently become available. This is a new avenue that allows our clients who prefer non-mined stones to use diamonds in designs vs. other diamond simulants.
Gemstones are a unique natural treasure, each being formed by different chemical and environmental reactions within the earth. Each region creates different types of gems based on their environmental attributes. We have partnered with several dealers who buy directly at the mines, as well as gemstone artisans who are members of the American Gem Trade Association. This May, Jewelry by Design is excited to welcome The Fernandes Family from Brazil: Brazilian Gemstone Experts bring the mines to Kansas… A portion of the proceeds from this show will go to charity: water , a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
Ethical fine jewelry is an art, an art that is created from natural resources that travel through our hands into yours. So join us this year for Earth Day! Come see what we do, how we operate, and how much this beautiful planet of ours means to us.
