Our friends of over 26 years are coming to town with their fabulous collection of Brazilian gemstones for one day only . The Fernandes family has been going into the mines of their home country for over fifty years. They hand select the rough stones that the father, Jose will cut by hand. An amazing selection of scintillating gems of all shapes and sizes, and they will be bringing these fabulous specimens to our store for you to see and buy directly from them! This is a great opportunity to see and learn so much about gems and how they get from deep underground all the way to Kansas! Loose gems are unique gifts for jewelry lovers too.

Philip has been using gemstones from the Fernandes’ in his designs since 1991. Their collection includes aquamarine, tourmaline, high quality emerald, color change alexandrite, and of course amethyst, citrine and smoky quartz, among others.
Rare Imperial Topaz is found in only one mine in the world-Santa Maria Mine.
May BirthstoneEmerald, to many, symbolizes rebirth and the abundance of the life force. The rich green hue brings to mind the regeneration of life in spring and hope of new possibilities. Emerald is the birthstone for May and a talisman for Gemini.

Found at a single deposit near the Brazilian village of Sao Jose de Batalha in north-central Paraiba State, it was determined that the blue-to-green colors were from copper − the first recorded instance of copper coloring in tourmaline.
